Asus TUF Gaming Radeon RX 6800 XT O16G graphics card test: A good alternative to the original

  • Overcoming successful reference Radeons is not easy
  • Asus did it with the RX 6800 XT
  • The card will especially excite the tuners, to whom it will provide a temperature reserve

·         The Radeon RX 6800 XT received a slightly trimmed Navi 21 graphics chip manufactured by the 7nm manufacturing process at TSMC. It has 26.8 billion transistors and an area of 519 mm2. The RX 6900 XT is fully equipped with 80 active computing units (CU) on the chip. With the cheaper RX 6800 XT, the number of CUs has dropped to 72, 4,608 stream processors, 128 rasterization and 288 computing units are active.

·         A little louder

·         The AMD on the RX 6800 XT features a basic clock of 1,825 MHz, a game clock of up to 2,015 MHz and a boost clock of up to 2,250 MHz, and the card has received 16 GB of GDDR6 memory at 16 Gb / s connected via the 256b bus. The stated typical power consumption is 300 W.

·         The overclocked model from Asus has the basic clock increased to 1,875 MHz, the game clock to 2,065 MHz and the boost clock at 2,310 MHz. The power limit can be increased or decreased by up to 15%. Unlike the reference card, the TUF Radeon has more BIOS - one for quiet operation and the other for more powerful cooling. On both, you can also select Quiet, Balanced, or Rage mode in the drivers. The USB-C connector from the reference design replaced the Asus with a classic DisplayPort, so most people can do without a reduction when connecting a fourth monitor.
