Windows 10 runs on 1.3 billion computers. 40% of them have the latest version

As part of the announcement of financial results for the past quarter, Microsoft also revealed some data about Windows. One is that the Tens now power 1.3 billion devices. At the same time, the company manages to keep users up to date.

Microsoft has targeted a billion Windows 10 users on the day the system was released, a year last year. It took five years, three more than the company had originally expected. Nevertheless, the growth of the installations was relatively stable and fast. Last year, however, he gained momentum. It currently reports 1.3 billion active installations of Windows 10, which is a third more.

Also positive is that Microsoft manages to keep users up to date. The "bigger" one is published every six months, but the last one was relatively small and this spring will follow in this trend. Despite the high publishing cadence, however, the autumn version, referred to as 20H2, has over 40% of users installed. A month ago, it was 10 percentage points less. The data comes from AdDuplex , which researched 70,000 computers.

Furthermore, 40% of computers are powered by the previous version, ie 20H1, from the spring of last year, which can still be considered almost current. As a result, only 20% of users run on an outdated version of Windows 10, which can be considered a success.
