Sony Xperia Pro is still the
most expensive smartphone from the Japanese manufacturer. Rather than
regular end users, it is intended for professional journalists or cameramen who
can use 5G to stream content taken either by the phone itself or by a separate
camera or camcorder. The HDMI connector ensures connection to the phone in
the field.
The phone, a substantial part
of which is identical to last year's Xperia 1 II, has so far been sold
exclusively in its home country of Japan and, since the beginning of the year,
also in the United States. Launches in other markets were not anticipated. However,
Sony unexpectedly announced availability in several European countries, such as
Germany, the United Kingdom and Sweden. The manufacturer probably wants to
cover the delay that is between the announcement of the new generation of
Xperia III and their physical launch, which should occur during the summer
months.
The European price of the
Xperia Pro was set at 2,500 euros (approximately 64,000 crowns) and it is
clearly the most expensive Xperia and at the same time one of the most
expensive phones sold ever. The Xperia Pro still stands out from all
common existing mobile categories. With it, Sony wants to lay the
foundation for a range of smartphones designed for media and news professionals.
Reportage mobile
The phone will be used in the
field to take reportage photos and video materials that need to be quickly
shot, edited and sent to newsrooms, or with the help of the device to stream
high-definition video directly. In addition, Xperia Pro has all the
hardware prerequisites, especially 5G support, including millimeter waves.
The phone is equipped with a
micro HDMI connector (type D) as video input from an external camera or
camcorder. The pre-installed External Monitor application is used to
control Sony Alpha cameras directly from the phone display. The
manufacturer chose a 6.5-inch 4K OLED panel with a built-in fingerprint reader
as the display. The body of the phone is more robust than the Xperia 1 II
and meets the degree of resistance IP65 / 68. The built-in battery has a
capacity of 4,000 mAh and supports fast cable charging.
The triple rear camera is the same as in the Xperia 1 II, it contains three sensors with a resolution of 12 + 12 + 12 Mpx. The front camera is eight megapixel. Performance is provided by the Snapdragon 865 5G processor, 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of fast internal storage. The manufacturer did not forget about the 3.5mm jack, stereo speakers and memory card support. From the equipment of top models, we only lack wireless charging. The device runs on Android 11
